World Innovation Alliance New Education Project: "Education is about improving people´s lives, not about tests and grades"

Imagen
Education should be about improving people´s lives, ot about tests and grades. Education is about improving ourselves so we can improve the world. Education is about providing the right knowledge and skills that the changing market demands to help individuals finding and creating jobs. Education is not only about the information, is about how to use it to solve problems and create opportunities. Education is about respect, values, human rights, culture, exchange and collaboration. Education is about purpose, potential and execution. Education is about creating projects, learning by doing, training and experiencing. Education is about helping people achieve wellbeing, prosperity and meaning. Education is about discovering the personalized path that fits you, since all of us are completely unique, have different capacities and goals. Education is about mental health as well as about physical health, happiness and development. Education is not for children and youths. It is for everyone.

Carlos Sentís lecture, judge and mentor for Cross River University of Technology Nigeria Hult Prize entrepreneurship competition

Imagen
Thank you to Cross River Tech University in Nigeria for the opportunity to give a lecture on innovation and strategy, and to act as judge and mentor for the entrepreneurs participating in the Hult Prize competition on social innovation focused on food for good. Really appreciate the efforts to support entrepreneurship in Nigeria, and the extraordinary ideas and projects to face hunger and create a more sustainable food industry with new sources for nutrients, environmentally friendly supply chains and education initiatives. Very grateful for all the messages of appreciation for the recommendations I shared to build a business limiting risk, focusing on the long term, professionalizing sales processes and always working on what they can do with the resources they have to go where they want, instead of stalling because of lack of investment or the “right circumstances”. Thank you Vivian for the invitation, and thank you all for your remarkable job. Best of luck World Innovation Alliance

WIA Joins the call for Tech for Good from President Macron

Imagen
" Technology and international cooperation are the biggest hopes to face our common challenges, yet the concentration of power, the focus on short term individual profits, the lack of multi stakeholder collaboration, the digital divide and the voices that threat the progress of globalization can put at risk the SDGs Agenda and a fair development process for less developed economies and communities, as well as for the next generations.  Technology will create unprecedented disruption in the years ahead, changing 50% of jobs globally, and the tech Industry has both the capacity and the responsibility of making the transition to the new world as positive for humanity and biodiversity as possible.  More than 1 billion people still live in extreme poverty. An open internet, robotics, IOT, AI, e-commerce, e-services and online education can help to make things better, but we need to make sure that all the organizations that can influence the future are aligned with the democratic values

Innovation and technology for peace and conflict prevention, Carlos Sentís (WIA) for the Government of Liberia

Imagen
P eace starts within Thanks to the Government of Liberia for the invitation to share my recommendations on how to leverage technology and innovation for peace. Despite how far away the idea of war may seem to many of you, there are currently more than 40 wars being fought around the world, and we are all under the permanent threat of armed conflict. Between 1989 and 2003, Liberia lost the lives of more than 250.000 people, and displacing 1 million more, in two devastating civil wars. Liberia is one of the poorest countries in the world, and, like many other countries in Africa, Asia and Latin América, lives under extremely fragile conditions. Without peace, there is no hope for development, no possibility of growth, no chance for health. Happiness is not even a dream. We must never underestimate the potential of humans for evil under the wrong circumstances and recognize that genocide, war and murder start within each and everyone of us when we do not stop ourselves from hating others

Carlos Sentís speaks about the pandemic in Arabic on DMC Egypt National Television

First interview in Arabic on a national TV! I decided that I wanted to learn this language 14 years ago. But I went for Chinese first instead. Wanted to learn ever since. Never found the time. Last December I spoke in front of thousands of people and prepared a few sentences in Arabic. It worked. So I started learning the language this January because I want to support peace initiatives and Human Rights action in the Middle East in the future. I spent more than 650 hours studying, almost 5 hours a day until June. I took classes almost every day with my amazing syrian teacher Haya Saif . I watched every political debate I could. Started understanding 0 words. Now I sometimes get only 20 percent, but if I know a bit about the topic I understand up to 70 percent. After 5 intensive months studying at home during the lockdown I stopped because I couldn't continue developing our projects with such commitment. A few months later, just this Saturday, my friends at DMC, the largest TV chann
